Why Your Data Strategy Is Your B2B Growth Strategy

It’s a data world. Every company today is using data to improve revenue operations, make better decisions on who to target, and reach their buyers in more meaningful ways.  And the volume of data generated and its rate of change is only accelerating. As a result, the ability to capture and discover meaningful customer and prospect data, and put it into play is what separates market leaders, regardless of industry.

We’ve always believed data is imperative for revenue success as the technologies we rely on become driven by artificial intelligence and buyers place more importance on unified experiences. But we’ve worried that the current state of data misguides many companies.

We asked Harvard Business Review Analytic Services to help us and our customers better understand the relationship between data and business growth, and how forward thinking executives use data as a competitive advantage across their organizations.

What they found in this new research was astounding. Companies with advanced data strategies are not just surpassing others, they’re exponentially better at achieving their top goal – more revenue. Yet too few companies are advanced, which is why investing in data and intelligence is their #1 priority for reaching their goals. HBR Report Stats

The 189 revenue and data executives help to prioritize outcomes and uncover roadblocks of a data-driven B2B strategy. Among the key findings:

  • The overarching goal of most go-to-market strategies is to boost revenues—and catering to customer needs is crucial to doing so.
  • The biggest challenges in creating data-driven go-to-market strategies are data silos, a lack of the right data analytics tools, and incomplete data.
  • Companies with advanced data strategies do a better job of attracting and retaining customers, earn a bigger share of wallet, and generate more revenue.
  • Nearly three-quarters of companies with an advanced data strategy say they have a better market position than their competitors.

It’s clear company leaders recognize the opportunity and what they need to do. They can no longer ignore the importance of having reliable data and a smart data strategy.

Building a solution where data and intelligence meet has long been our mission. For nearly a decade we’ve seen the remarkable impact of machine learning and network effects on the accuracy and breadth of B2B data. But most importantly, we’ve seen what teams can do with great data coupled with tools that unify and reveal insights.

  • Diagnose–And Fix–Core Data Gaps
  • Develop 360-Degree Customer Profiles
  • Uncover Total Addressable Markets
